Those trilliums were recovered last fall through the Maskinonge River Recovery Project re-planting efforts. The plan is to have those provincial flowers flourish in the forest rather than lose them to make way for Hwy. 404 construction. Along with sitting as the recovery project’s chairperson,
Mr. Mackness also sits as a member of the East Gwillimbury active transportation and trails committee and Ontario Trails Council and is chairperson of York Environmental Stewardship. He gave up his 31-year corporate career with IBM to pursue his real passion — preserving our local environment.
